Book Review: The Indigo Spell by Richell Mead (Book Three of the Bloodlines Series)

My Review: I just love, love, love, LOVE this book. I may be biased since I'm without a doubt, completely head-over-heels in love with Adrian, but I loved this book. Richelle Mead has definitely captured my attention and lit a undying flame of interest for me when writing this book. The forbidden desires that fill this book is enough to entice from start to finish.  5/5 STARS

Book Review: Allegra by Shelley Hrdlitschka

My Review: ***Note: I won an ARC of Allegra through a LibraryThing contest. ***

I decided to read Allegra to spice up my reading selection a bit, and it is quick and fun read.  The story captured my attention, even though I found the characters to be a bit annoying at times- especially Allegra.  She seemed a bit shallow and anal at times, with a bit of an attitude that often led to overly dramatic behavior.

The passion and dedication that Allegra had when it came to her music-theory project was inspiring though.   She put everything she had and then some into her and Noel's composition, she was even willing to let her passion for dancing slide a bit to finish the music that was said to be both beautiful and moving.

Overall, I liked the book and would read it again.  The writing style felt more like it would be for younger teens, depending on what your preference for reading.  I give it a 3 star instead of 4, because I really did find some of the characters behaviors to be a tad bit irritating.  3/5 STARS

Book Review: UnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn (Book One of An Unfortunate Fairy Tale Series)

My Review: UnEnchanted is the opposite of it's title.  I found UnEnchanted to be quite enchanting.  Yes, there was definitely many grammar errors that were a bit annoying, but the story plot made up for it.  I was completely enthralled with the story and enjoyed it very much.  Chanda Hahn has created a Fairy Tale of Fairy Tales that is worth reading, despite the grammar mistakes.  4/5 STARS

Book Review: Rise of the Infected by Monique Morgan

My Review:  I absolutely loved 'Rise of the Infected'!  From the very beginning I was hooked and couldn't stop reading (I had to literally force myself to stop when it came time for me to go to work- so tempted to call in 'sick' so that I could keep reading).  Monique Morgan is becoming one of my favorite authors, even though I've only read two of her books.  I find her writing and imagination to be superb!

Rise of the Infected is an interesting story about a world thrown into a mostly primitive era, when in certain areas things like cars, electricity, elevators, etc... are things of myth.  In this story, chaos breaks out when a biochemical toxin is released in certain areas, resulting in civilians turning into flesh-hungry zombies, but not all of them are mind-less creatures that only have one instinct- not in this story.  In this story there are certain zombies that have a higher thinking capability that makes them deadly to the humans.

Enter River, a girl with more fire and spunk that would rival most men that would wish to make her feel inferior in all ways, who is just as deadly as the 'monsters' that newly inhabit the earth.  River is funny, impulsive, and stubborn with little tolerance of being belittled- Monique did an outstanding job when creating her.

Rise of the Infected is most definitely a novel that I would recommend others to read.  It's not like your every day zombie story.  This book is so much more!  I was truly upset when the story ended- I needed to hear more!  5/5 STARS

Books I've Read: January 2013

Shattered by Dani Pettrey
Elements of the Undead: Omnibus by William Esmont
Pursuer by Monique Morgan
Heiress of Lies by Cege Smith
A Wasting time by William Esmont

Book Review: Death to the Brothers Grimm by Various Authors

My Review: Death to the Brothers Grimm wasn't my cup of tea.  Some stories were entertaining, but I found most to be a bit dull.  One of my favorite stories is 'The Little Glass Soul' by Jeremy C. Shipp- quite entertaining in it's dark and malicious ways.  2/5 STARS
